Dungeons and Dragons: Animated Adventurers

This library-sized hardcover collects the full Dungeons & Dragons: Saturday Morning Adventures comic series, originally published by IDW in 2003, based on the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon show.

Brief: Illustrate an original book cover that features the main villain (Venger) and the main heroes. Design the spine, back cover, and non-comic interior pages to support the cover art and story.

Design: The cover design takes inspiration from other official supplementary Dungeons & Dragons publications, such as The Book of Concealment and Lore and Legends, particularly a graphic, 2D illustration style and an ornate border frame. A huge Venger towers over our heroes, who cast long shadows from his evil purple flame. The frame itself is modeled after gothic architecture and wrought-iron fences for a jagged, villainous feel. The interior design pages continue the ornate filigree in the frames surrounding the spot art, laid over a parchment-like background.

Print details: Hardcover, matte lamination with UV spot gloss. Silver foil on front cover and spine.
